Parents as Teachers Day

Kicking off Family Literacy Month, we’re looking forward to National Parents as Teachers Day this Wed., Nov. 8. We want to celebrate the important role parents play in helping their children learn and grow. To mark this special day, we've put together a list of fun activities that parents can do with their kids. These activities are meant to make learning fun and exciting and can be enjoyed by kids of all ages.

Reading Adventures for Everyone

Reading is a fantastic way to learn and bond with your parents, no matter how old you are. You can find books that are just right for your age. If you're a baby or newborn, you'll love colorful picture books with simple shapes. For toddlers and preschoolers, interactive stories and rhymes are perfect for lots of fun. As you grow, you can dive into chapter books and thrilling tales. The trick is to pick books that match your interests. If you're a fan of animals, there are plenty of books about different animals, where they live, and how they live.

Create Your Own Obstacle Courses

Making an obstacle course at home is an awesome way to have fun, stay active, and challenge your child’s brain. You can use everyday things around your house to create a course that suits your child’s age and abilities. For younger kids, it could be as simple as jumping over cushions or crawling under tables. As the child gets older, you can make the obstacle course more complex.

Crafty Creations: Art Time

Getting artsy with crafts is a super fun way to use your child’s creativity and imagination. Plus, it's a great chance to spend quality time together! There are tons of art projects to explore, from painting and drawing to sculpting. You'll discover something that you and your child can enjoy and that challenges their creativity and problem-solving skills.

The Magic of Conversations

Sometimes, the simplest things can make a big difference. Having good conversations with your child is a powerful way to boost their thinking and understanding of the world. Ask about their day, talk about their interests, and share your thoughts.

These activities are just the start of all the fun ways to learn and grow at home. The most important thing is to have a great time and enjoy the moments with your child.
